End of Season Round up

Well a quiet season  – however this is true of all fast electric racing both here and in Europe.  Perhaps the “light at the end of the tunnel” might be the introduction of Energy meters, Watt meters or whatever you want to call them.  Think of it like a fuel tank, once it’s gone you stop!!  Either way it means we can buy better lipos from ANY suppler without the yoke of the 260 gram limit, which frankly has killed our hobby at the competitive level.

However a round up:

Well Adrian at Althorne has a nice new bench, which Roger Graves made from scratch – great work Roger.

Lee won the MPBA Championships with his RASCH hydro 2

The new Q mono 2  remains untested – oh well next season…

Hopefully next year will be better – let’s hope so

Here is a video of my Rasch mono 2 in 25 mph + winds from the ELECTRA meeting

MPBA Fast Electric Nationals – round up

Well this was an odd weekend….   We started with an almighty thunder and lightning storm most of the Friday night, at one point thought I had a guy with an arc welder working in the tent!!!  We also had a neighbour in another tent who’s snoring could be heard above the thunder (wish I had a decibel meter) So we started Saturday a bit bleary eyed to say the least…  the rest of the weekend weather was pretty good

Pitting was a bit of an issue this year as the Bridlington club has been “rewired” so no long external extension leads, kettles or fridges allowed.  This mean everyone had to use the power under the shelter for charging, so it was a bit “cosy”

Well Lee and I had a bit of a mare all weekend, mono 2 was a chariot race with 7 drivers in 1 heat which was a bit lively but everyone had the same chance(s)   boats that had been ultra reliable were failing, with motors and ESC’s going down.

So in summary,  the only Osprey who came back with any silverware was Lee, who finished second in hydro 2, one lap behind the winner and took third place in hydro 1.

What was a common thread among the racers all of whom were moaning was how poor the Hobbyking A spec race cells in 3s were, even worse than last years already flakey cells, many packs being 100 milli volts apart , after only a few runs.  So once again cells are an issue!!!

Oh Well there is always next year…..

MPBA 2015 Fast Electric Nationals

Well only a couple of week to go..

.From the Ospreys we will be represented by:

Paul & Lee Heath, defending the mono 1 and mono 2 titles

Steph Hart

Roger Greaves

This year will be a good test for the RASCH hydros,  with all of us running them.

Lee, Steph and Roger in Hydro 1 with the RASCH boat and Lee will also be competing with his in Hydro 2.  Roger will be busy as he is also in mini Hydro as well, so all classes put to the test….

GOOD LUCK OSPREYS !!!
